Everest

Almost nothing is known about the company, whose full name is Ditta Stilo-Everest; it was based in Turin in via Martiri Fascisti (as found in some catalogs) but in this advertisement from 1943 it is reported to be in via Card. Maurizio 14 and in this advertisement from 1947 it is reported to be in via Superga 25. There is no known foundation date, and the trademark (Reg. Gen. N. 80254) was registered only after the war, in 1947, still as "Ditta Stilo-Everest".

In the Paravia guide for Turin of 1948, in the fountain pen section, the "F.A.V. Fabbricazione Accessori Vari" appears to be at the same address of Via Card. Maurizio 14, but it is not possible to be sure (given the appearance of another Stilo-Everest address in an earlier advertisement) that this is the same company, although it is possible that this was the address of a reselling shop.

E' stato però possibile ottenere alcune interessanti informazioni sulla proprietà dell'azienda grazie al reperimento sul settimanale Cronache Economiche della Camera di Commercio di Torino del cambio di denominazione della "STILO EVEREST ASEPA di POZZOLI ARMANDO" in «BAKER COMPANY ASEPA STILO EVEREST di POZZOLI ARMANDO» avvenuto in data 1954-10-03 (vedi questo estratto). Anche se non è possibile essere certi che si tratti del fondatore originale, dato che Armando Pozzoli compare, solo per nome, nella guida Paravia del 1948 e del 1952 e sempre Cronache Economiche riporta la cessazione di una sua attività di riparatore corso Vinzaglio 5 nel 1951, cosa che fa supporre una attività indipendente, in assenza di indicazioni migliori faremo questa assunzione.

It is not known whether this is a direct manufacturer or just a retailer, but in the models shown in those catalogs seems evident a remarkable similarity with the productions of companies like Montegrappa and SAFIS, and it's also reported a production commissioned to Giacomazzi.
