A Swan advertisement for Merle Blanc brand
The Blackbird brand was introduced by Swan around the end of the 20s to distinguish its economic production. The pens, as well as by name, were identified, as the the main brand versions, by the stylized logo of the bird from which they get the name (i.e. the blackbird).
Lo stesso marchio pare sia stato utilizzato (come Le Merle) per la produzione destinata al mercato francese. Esiste anche[1] una denominazione diversa essendo stato ritrovato su un esemplare riportante l'incisione: LE MERLE BLANC, MADE BY THE "SWAN" PEN PEOPLE, FABRIQUE EN ANGLETERRE, inoltre lo stesso nome, Merle Blanc compare anche nella pubblicità a fianco.
