Fled to Argentina in 1940 to escape the Nazis joined with his brother and in 1943 gave birth to Eterpen the first company to manufacture and market in an industrial ballpoint pens using the Biro brand, which since then, at least in Italy, became a synonym for a ballpoint pen.
