Pare che ''Edgardo Ercolessi'' fosse legato da rapporti di parentela con Eugenio Verga, fondatore della [[Columbus]] e da rapporti di amicizia con ''Armando Simoni'' fondatore della [[Omas]]. Grazie a queste sue conoscenze fu in grado di affrontare con successo il mercato degli strumenti di scrittura e la sua azienda si espanse con diversi negozi a Milano, fino al centralissimo Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Nella sua attività ''Edgardo Ercolessi'' iniziò a proporre nei suoi negozi delle penne marchiate esplicitamente con il suo nome. Non è chiaro se all'origine di questa attività di produzione siano state esigenze promozionali o la necessità di distinguersi sul mercato, ma a lungo l'azienda dette vita a produzioni con il suo marchio.  

It seems that ''Edgardo Ercolessi'' was linked by kinship with Eugenio Verga, founder of [[Columbus]] and friendly relations with ''Armando Simoni'' founder of [[Omas]]. Thanks to his knowledge he was able to successfully address the writing instruments market and his company expanded with several stores in Milan, up to the central Corso Vittorio Emanuele. In his activities ''Edgardo Ercolessi'' began to propose in its stores pens explicitly marked with his name. It is unclear whether the origin of this production have been promotional needs or the need to stand out on the market, but in the long the company gave birth to productions with its brand.  

Le prime penne marchiate [[Ercolessi]], realizzate agli inizi degli anni '20, erano delle [[rientranti]] in ebanite, sullo stile della [[Waterman 42]], quasi certamente prodotte dalla [[Columbus]]. A queste si aggiunsero in seguito modelli con [[caricamento a levetta]]. A queste seguirono penne in stile [[Duofold]] in celluloide colorata, prodotte presumibilmente, come la gran parte delle penne degli anni '30 a marchio [[Ercolessi]], dalla [[Omas]].  

The first branded pens ''Ercolessi'', built in the early '20s, were hard rubber [[safety]] pens, in the [[Waterman 42]] style, almost certainly produced by [[Columbus]]. To these were added later [[lever filler]] models. To these followed [[Duofold]] style pensin in colored celluloid, presumably produced, as most of the ''Ercolessi'' branded pens of the '30s, by [[Omas]].  

A queste seguirono poi altri modelli, denominati ''[[Ercolessi 5x|Serie 50]]'', derivati dalla [[Minerva Ellittica]] con caricamento a [[pulsante di fondo]] e realizzati nelle stesse misure di questa e con la stessa numerazione, adottata copiando lo [[Numerazione Waterman|schema]] usato dalla [[Waterman]]: la 52½ V (corta e sottile, da signora, ad anello), la  52½ (media e sottile), la 52 (media) e la 55 (grande). Le penne però presentavano, rispetto alla versione originale, una decorazione con tre anellini e diverse colorazioni della celluloide.  

These followed then other models, referred to as ''[[Ercolessi 5x|Series 50]]'', [[button filler]] derived from the [[Minerva Ellittica]] and produced with the same measures, adopting the same numbering copying the [[Numerazione Waterman|pattern]] used by [[Waterman]]: the 52½ V (short and thin, like a lady, ring), the 52½ (mean and thin), the 52 (medium) and 55 (large). The pens had however, contrasting the original, is decorated with three rings and different colors of celluloid.  

A questa linea si affiancava una più linea raffinata, derivata dalla [[Minerva Ellittica]] con [[caricamento a levetta]], anche questa prodotta con colorazioni inusuali per la versione originale. Come ulteriore testimonianza di una produzione affidata in gran parte alla [[Omas]] vennero realizzate anche delle [[Ercolessi]] derivate dalla [[Minerva Classica]], sia nella versione con [[caricamento a levetta]] che in quella con [[caricamento a stantuffo]], anche in questo distinte da diverse colorazioni della celluloide e dalla presenza di tre verette sul cappuccio.

This line was joined by a more refined line, derived from the [[lever filler]] [[Minerva Ellittica]], also produced this with unusual colors for the original version. As further evidence of a production left largely to [[Omas]] there were also some ''Ercolessi'' pens derived from the [[Minerva Classica]], both in the [[lever filler]] and [[piston filler]] versions, also distinct from the different celluloid colors and the presence of three rings on the cap.

Alle linee in celluloide si affiancarono pure delle versioni [[rientranti]] decorate con elaborati [[overlay|rivestimenti]] in metallo, di nuovo denominate secondo lo [[Numerazione Waterman|schema]] di [[Waterman]] con i numeri 42, 42½ e 42½ V, di probabile produzione [[Columbus]]. Sempre di produzione [[Columbus]] era il modello denominato ''[[Velox]]'', simile ai modelli [[Columbus Extra]] lisci, con clip a rotellina e due anelli di diverso spessore sul cappuccio.  

Celluloid pens were joined also by [[safety]] versions decorated with elaborate metal [[overlay]]s, again named after the [[Waterman]] [[Numerazione Waterman|pattern]] with the numbers 42 , 42½ and 42½ V, that were probably made by [[Columbus]]. Alsa the model called ''[[Velox]]'' was [[Columbus]] production, similar to the round [[Columbus Extra]] models, with wheel clip and two rings of different thickness on the cap.  

Solo a partire dagli anni '40 la collaborazione con [[Omas]] e [[Columbus]] cessò, probabilmente a causa delle difficoltà negli approvvigionamenti di celluloide. Allora la [[Ercolessi]] si rivolse alla [[Ancora]], che produsse per l'azienda dei modelli con [[caricamento a stantuffo]] denominati ''Ercolessi 62'' e ''Ercolessi 65'', derivati dalle versioni economiche della [[Lusso]].  

Since the '40s collaboration with [[Omas]] and [[Columbus]] ceased, probably because of the difficulties in the supply of celluloid. Then the ''Ercolessi'' turned to [[Ancora]], which produced for the company [[piston filler]] models called ''Ercolessi 62'' and ''Ercolessi 65'', derived from the [[Lusso]] economic versions.  

Nel periodo bellico e dell'immediato dopoguerra le difficoltà economiche restrinsero le vendite degli articoli di lusso ed anche la [[Ercolessi]] si adeguò con la produzione di modelli più economici, commissionati in questo caso alla [[Montegrappa]] e alla [[Radius]], in particolare da quest'ultima venne prodotta la cosiddetta ''Serie 70'', derivata della [[Radius Extra]] affusolata.  

During the war and post-war the economic difficulties narrowed sales of luxury goods, and even the ''Ercolessi'' fell into line with the production of cheaper models, commissioned in this case to [[Montegrappa]] and [[Radius]], in particular the latter produced the so-called ''Series 70'', a derivative of the streamlined [[Radius Extra]].  

Negli anni successivi, con la crisi della stilografica e l'ingresso sul mercato della penna a sfera usa e getta, la [[Ercolessi]] cessò completamente la produzione di penne stilografiche a marchio proprio, restando attiva soltanto nell'attività commerciale con i negozi di Milano, che anche oggi sono un punto di riferimento per gli appassionati di stilografiche di quella città.  

In the following years, with the crisis of the fountain and the market entry of the disposable ballpoint pens, ''Ercolessi'' completely ceased the production of fountain pens under its own brand, remaining active only in business with stores Milan, which even today are a reference point for  fountain pens fans in that city.
